Pop Pot, Reused Plastic Bottle, South Africa

This lovely and surprising little pot is made from the base of a large fizzy drink bottle. The surface of the pot is covered with a thin layer of papier-mâché made from red tissue paper. The flower shape molding of the base is echoed by five slits cut into the sides of the bottle making folding wings which snap shut to close the pot. When the wings are extended the pot could be used as a vase. When it is closed it can contain secrets!

This is a fairtrade product purchased from Exclusive Roots, a UK charity working with communities in many African countries.
