Weightlifter, Reused Bottle Tops, Zimbabwe

Using only reused bottle tops and a little wood, the craftsperson has made a bright and amusing figure. You’ll see that the some of the tops are Coco Cola, a popular drink in Zimbabwe as elsewhere, although the cost of the beverage may well have been too high for the person – probably a boy or young man -  who made this object for the tourist trade. Other bottle tops used to make the weightlifter are from commercially produced lagers – again, possibly too expensive to be bought but the discarded bottle tops have provided the material to make this collector’s piece.

This object is for decorative use only and should not be used by children as a toy as the edges of the bottle tops are quite sharp.
